This is the sixth year in a row that our firm has been honored for outstanding communications campaigns bringing the award tally to twenty-four. We won  Awards of Distinction for the following programs: West Marine’s Fort Myers Flagship store grand opening, Blue Ridge Harley-Davidson’s Grand Reopening in Hickory, North Carolina, international publicity efforts on behalf of Specialists in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery and the company’s second annual food drive benefiting Community Cooperative Ministries, Inc. (CCMI), the CAN IT! Campaign. The Judges’ Award was also given in recognition of the CAN IT! Campaign.

An Award of Distinction highlights an outstanding public relations program while a Judges’ Award signifies maximum client exposure was achieved through the public relations program for the least amount of money.

I had the opportunity to attend the 74th Annual Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) Conference this week – what an exciting time! Thanks to my local chapter, Southwest Florida, who provided a scholarship, I traveled to St. Augustine and found some real gems of information on public relations best practices. Below are just a few takeaways that I hope will you too!

It’s all About the Story

A repeating theme at conference this year was that PR is all about the story and storytelling. In the words of Mickey Nall, APR and PRSA fellow, Managing Director for Ogilvy PR, “we’re not talking about making up stories, it’s truth-telling.” Every company or brand has a story  – where they came from, why they were created, how they’ve evolved and where they are going. It goes back to something we often remind clients – people connect with people, not brands. If you can share the story of your company and put it people terms, give your audience something to connect to, then they are more likely to engage and remain connected.

Measurement is Key!

This was music to my ears! We are all about measurement – in terms of our social media efforts, SEO work, and public relations. While most PR practitioners measure their efforts in some way, the discussion at conference was how to do it better and that there ARE ways to measure activities formerly thought of as unmeasurable – like social media.

One speaker, Patrick O’Donnell, Senior Project Manager at Ketchum Global Research & Analytics presented an info-packed talk on the basics of research and how that initial step plays a big role in the evaluation and measurement. I was surprised how few people in the room are using social media, but aren’t measuring it. Nonetheless, it was made clear that all things PR can be measured and there are better ways than the old-school AVE process.

Big Winners!

We’re also VERY excited to share that we won a Judges’ Award for our work on the Scott Fischer EnterprisesVIB Reward Program project!

I hope these gems of wisdom help you and look forward to seeing you at conference next year – in St. Petersburg, FL!

A Judges’ Award highlights a public relations program that achieved maximum impact for the least amount of money, and as part of the Golden Image Award program, it represents excellence on a statewide level. The award is for work done on behalf of the Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida and their Literacy Buddies program.

With the economy as it is, we pride ourselves in offering our clients effective, cost-conscious programs. We are honored to have won and are especially proud given the tough statewide competition.

The Golden Image Awards competition is conducted annually by the Florida Public Relations Association to recognize outstanding public relations programs in Florida and to encourage and promote the development of public relations professionalism in the state. The PTE team at the Local 2011 Image Awards - Alex, Samantha and Annette

It’s that time of year again – award entries. Seemingly endless details crunched into just two pages combined with mounds of supporting material… what does this equal? An Image Award entry for the Florida Public Relations Association. It’s a lot of work, but we enter at the local level through our Southwest Florida Chapter every year. This year, the fourth year in a row we’ve entered, we’ve won – this time, four awards!

We were honored to be able to enter three projects this year and each one won! Our work with Scott Fischer Enterprises and their Rocket Harley-Davidson dealership won an Award of Distinction and a Judges’ Award. Additionally, the work we did with the Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida and their Literacy Buddies program as well as our social media efforts for California Closets Southwest Florida each won Awards of Distinction!

An Award of Distinction highlights an outstanding public relations program while a Judges’ Award signifies maximum client exposure or success through a public relations program for the least amount of money.

We are very excited to have received these honors and look forward to entering the FPRA Golden Image Awards next. Wish us luck!

The newly minted honoree

Last night was the Gulfshore Business Forty under Forty celebration at the Moraya Bay Beach Tower in Naples. What an event! The location was gorgeous with sweeping views of the beach and Gulf, the building itself was immaculate and there were so many people!

We took a few snapshots during the event and posted them all to our Flickr account or check them out on our Facebook page.

Congrats once again to ALL the honorees. It’s an incredible group of people and I personally thank Gulfshore Business for putting this together and recognizing the young leaders in Southwest Florida. An honor indeed to be included.
